400;\">First, a little information about your tricuspid valve and what it does:<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Your tricuspid valve lies between your right atrium and your right ventricle. The damage might be the result of infection, trauma, or a valve defect that has been present since birth. This can happen if you have a lung problem, such as emphysema, or any other disorder that increases the blood pressure in your right ventricle. When your ventricle enlarges, it can distort the shape of your tricuspid valve and prevent it from closing properly.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Causes of right ventricle enlargement, which can lead to <strong>tricuspid valve regurgitation<\/strong>, include:<\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lung diseases like emphysema or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pulmonary hypertension: High blood pressure in your lungs<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/heart-explained.org\/index.php\/left-heart-failure\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Left heart failure<\/span><\/a><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cardiomyopathy: An enlarged or weakened heart muscle<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Severe left-side (mitral or aortic) <a href=\"https:\/\/heart-explained.org\/index.php\/heart-valve-disorders\/\">heart valve disorders<\/a><\/span><\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-16de76d\" data-id=\"16de76d\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-960a2f3 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"960a2f3\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The most common direct cause of tricuspid valve damage is endocarditis. The tricuspid is the valve most often affected by endocarditis acquired as a result of IV drug abuse.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rheumatic heart disease (which is now rare in the developed world) can damage your tricuspid valve and, if it does, it&#8217;s likely that your mitral and aortic valves are also damaged.<\/span><\/p><p>And finally, damage can be caused by <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">trauma or injury, or a congenital disorder &#8211; something you were born with.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Causes of <strong>tricuspid valve <\/strong>damage that can result in<strong> regurgitation<\/strong> include:<\/span><\/p><ul><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Endocarditis: An infection of the heart\u2019s chambers and valves\u00a0<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rheumatic heart disease<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Injury or trauma<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A congenital heart 400;\">If you have trace, or mild, <strong>tricuspid valve regurgitation<\/strong> you will probably have no symptoms at all. <\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If your condition worsens, the first noticeable symptoms may be those of the underlying condition that\u2019s causing your regurgitation (pulmonary hypertension, for example, or cardiomyopathy).<\/span><\/p><p>Usually, your first symptom will be that common indicator of right-heart problems, swollen legs and feet.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div
